A Bit About Me

Hi, I'm Carlee Jeanne!

I’m a professional editor and writer with 10 years of experience working with publishing houses, businesses, authors, professors and researchers.

I’m from a small town in New York, but I've traveled from Ecuador to India and beyond, only growing more curious about this wide world and its inhabitants.

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2017 with a B.A. in journalism and minors in Spanish and cultural anthropology.

I founded ēmendātum in 2022, and while the road has not always been easy, it's one I could never leave. I have a strong network of authors, researchers and businesses for whom I edit or craft copy. I am always happy to expand my network, so please reach out!

A Bit About ēmendātum

My reason for founding ēmendātum was to help others toward their dreams. Reading the experiences of others and learning from their expertise, diving into language, grammar and story, these are all joys of mine. However, helping perfect your passion projects or works of labor so that you feel confident to publish and share your words with the world is why I do what I do.

I offer line editing, copyediting and proofreading services, and I occasionally developmentally edit. Line editing focuses on readability while copyediting focuses on mechanics. Style, voice and quirks vary from author to author, and line editing ensures that these nuances remain intact but don't hinder readability. It remedies problems with structure, flow and tone. Grammar, punctuation and syntax as well as style guides are many writers’ worst enemies, so copyediting does the nitty-gritty fixing for you.

Although I edit multiple genres, I specialize in academic papers and texts and nonfiction/memoir manuscripts.

I will gently and constructively guide your work toward excellence and provide you with feedback that will help you hone your craft.
